ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ V037 Source & Dialogue
Posted by teedog on June 9, 2023 at 10:29 pmHere is the link to the Reddit PG42UQ Owner who was sent a link to V037 by ASUS Tech Support. Unfortunately, the new firmware fell short of fixing HDR issues. The update slightly enhanced brightness for me and, fixed a flickering issue I had on one of my of my PG42UQs. I still have to color correct when using HDR. SDR seems fine to me, as it was with V033.

***Update: ASUS has posted the official PG42UQ V037 firmware couple weeks ago. V037 doesn’t fix the HDR issue and, has created a new issue with black screens. There are a few ways to fix the black screen issue when it arises (Fastest to slowest):
1. Change the refresh rate in Windows Display Settings or NVCP. This requires a dual (or more) monitor setup and you can go back to the refresh rate you want after making the first refresh rate change.
2. Power Cycle Monitor
3. Restart the computer
The above fixes are only temporary. We are all waiting for a fix to this problem and the HDR issue. This is supposed to be coming soon. Within days…but don’t hold your breathe. You can always roll back your firmware driver to V033 if you don’t want to deal with the black screens. We have kept V037 on all three of our monitors. We are okay with it since we have a separate monitor for the refresh rate change.
